Granddaddy wants to see more of you!
When my grandfather, or granddaddy as we called him, would visit he always had a special way of bidding us goodbye. JW as he was known to adults always said, "We'll see more of you when you go swimming."
Considering that the bikini was the hip thing in the sixties and seventies JW's goodbye started to take on new meaning. I mean, you really did see more of people when they went swimming, a whole lot more!
Of course this did not worry me much because my dad always told me that I could go swimming, but I couldn't get wet. Not being able figure this out I kept most of my clothes on and sat on the beach, NOT!

Hmm, maybe Granddaddy was referring to those hot summer days down at the old swimming hole where swimming was a spur of the moment event. Since the swimming was not planned, maybe Granddaddy and friends were swimming sans clothes; thereby, there was a whole lot more of you to be seen. Now, how to swim without getting wet...I am befuddled.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I look forward to reading yours...
As for Love Actually -- I adored the movie! Wish I could get my hubby to watch it with me!
I like mjd's slant on this - brings a whole new meaning to "see more of you"!
It's been a pleasure to see your own children's expressions when you have repeated these sayings to them over the years. Depending on their age, the responses (or lack thereof) have been a real hoot!
Yes, my kids were told last hollidays it is too cold to swi in the water yet so we will just have sand play..yea right!!! They ended up in the water abd carting the water to their mote arouund their marvelloyssand castle..kids at heart.... I joined in with them too :)
MJD has me cracking up with her theory! Hmmm...how about some scuba gear to swim and keep dry in?
Every time I read this post title I get the willies. LOL.
I love these sayings that different families have. Like traditions, it's what holds people together.
Thanks for your recent visit. For some reason my spam blocker held your comment. It's now been published.
That would make me crazy figuring out how to go about swimming without getting wet.
Thanks for dropping by and Happy Halloween.
Willi...tell them about walking to school!
Thanks for the good luck wishes! I look forward to stopping by your blog again.
As for swimming, I am glad I was little when the skimpy bikinis were in. The beach was interesting enough in a resort town!! :-)
